Crystal Palace Eyes Reunion with Oliver Glasner: Pursuit of Lazio Star Daichi Kamada Underway for Summer Rebuild

Crystal Palace is wasting no time in laying the groundwork for a robust Premier League campaign next season, with manager Oliver Glasner reportedly eyeing a reunion with a former player as part of the club’s summer rebuild.
Since Glasner took the reins from Roy Hodgson in February, a wave of optimism has swept through Selhurst Park, buoyed by three consecutive victories over Liverpool, West Ham, and Newcastle. As attention shifts to the upcoming summer transfer window, Crystal Palace is already in pursuit of midfielder Daichi Kamada.
Glasner previously worked with the 27-year-old during their time together at Eintracht Frankfurt, where they shared success in winning the Europa League in 2023. Despite Kamada’s move to Lazio last summer, his stint in Italy has been less than fruitful, with limited game time and a lack of impact on the field.
With Kamada’s contract at Lazio set to expire after just one year, Crystal Palace sees an opportunity to lure him back to the Premier League. The Japanese international, reportedly tempted by English football, is yet to make a decision about his future, according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.
Kamada’s versatility and experience in European and international football make him an appealing prospect for Crystal Palace as they look to bolster their midfield options. However, any potential deal could hinge on the futures of current players Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, both of whom have attracted interest from other clubs.
While Palace has not ruled out the possibility of retaining Olise or Eze, reports suggest they have set a minimum asking price of £60 million for either player. With just four games remaining in the current season, Palace sits 14th in the league table but will aim to mount a late push for a top-half finish, trailing Bournemouth by six points in 10th place.
