Sam Allardyce Shares Opinion on Roy Hodgson’s Future at Crystal Palace

Former Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has weighed in on the increasingly precarious position of Roy Hodgson as the current boss at Selhurst Park.
In an appearance on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Allardyce expressed skepticism regarding Hodgson’s tenure, indicating that he doesn’t anticipate Hodgson remaining in charge until the end of the season.
“I’d like him to but I don’t think he will,” Allardyce remarked when questioned about Hodgson’s prospects of seeing out the campaign. He pointed out Steve Parish’s tendency to act swiftly if he perceives that turnaround isn’t imminent. Allardyce also highlighted the relatively lenient treatment given to Patrick Vieira despite a winless streak of 10 games last season.
Comparing Hodgson’s current situation to Vieira’s, Allardyce noted that the former’s one win in 12 matches represents a more dire scenario. He suggested that Hodgson’s departure now would be more justifiable than Vieira’s dismissal, especially considering the dissatisfaction among fans and the absence of long-term benefits in retaining him, given his impending departure.
Given Hodgson’s struggling record and the potential for young talents like David Ozoh and Matheus Franca to flourish under new management, Allardyce implied that it’s only a matter of time before Hodgson’s tenure at Crystal Palace comes to an end.
