Crystal Palace Agrees £9m Deal with Genk for Daniel Munoz, Player En Route to London for Medical

2 min read

Crystal Palace has finalized an agreement with Genk for the transfer of Daniel Munoz, with the Colombian defender currently en route to London for a medical examination.

The deal for Munoz, who had already settled personal terms with Crystal Palace as reported by Julián Capera of ESPN, is expected to be swiftly concluded. Earlier reports from Faesen suggested that Munoz had resorted to strike actions to facilitate his move to Selhurst Park.

The only remaining hurdle was negotiating a transfer fee with Genk, but according to Faesen, that has now been resolved. Crystal Palace and Genk have reportedly agreed on a fee of €10m (£9m) for the player, paving the way for Munoz’s medical assessment with the Eagles in London.

Pending successful fitness checks, the 27-year-old Colombian international is poised to become a Crystal Palace player within the next 48 hours.

A Much-Needed Addition at Right-Back

Crystal Palace supporters have long clamored for reinforcements at right-back, given the perceived shortcomings of current options Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne in Premier League competition.

Dougie Freedman, however, seems to have addressed this issue with the acquisition of Munoz, a dynamic attacking full-back. Munoz has notably scored seven goals in all competitions this season, making him one of Genk’s most prolific contributors. One of his goals, a spectacular bicycle kick, highlights his attacking prowess.

While a transition to the Premier League may require some adjustment for the 27-year-old, his arrival is a cause for excitement among Crystal Palace fans eager to see a revitalized right-back position.
