2 min read

Michael Olise showcased his brilliance by scoring twice as Crystal Palace mounted a comeback, securing a 3-1 triumph over Brentford in a thrilling Premier League clash at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

The game kicked off with Keane Lewis-Potter putting Brentford in the lead in the second minute, but Olise responded by leveling the scores. Later in the first half, Eberechi Eze’s goal propelled Roy Hodgson’s side to a 2-1 lead.

Olise continued his stellar performance with another goal in the 58th minute, propelling Palace to the 13th position in the league table. Meanwhile, Brentford now finds themselves in 15th place, just four points clear of the relegation zone.

Brentford initiated the match at Selhurst Park with an early breakthrough in the second minute, as Lewis-Potter capitalized on a cross from Mads Roerslev. Despite a lengthy VAR check, the goal stood, giving Brentford an early advantage.

Palace responded positively, with Jordan Ayew testing Brentford’s goalkeeper Mark Flekken, and Eze’s strike led to a deflected corner. Olise equalized in the 13th minute, volleying in a cross from Ayew.

Both teams had their chances, with Jefferson Lerma and Lewis-Potter testing the goalkeepers. Palace took the lead in the 39th minute as Eze found the bottom corner after a skillful run into the Brentford box.

Despite some late drama in the first half, including a near-third goal for Palace and missed opportunities for Brentford, the score remained 2-1 at halftime.

Olise continued to shine in the 58th minute, scoring his second goal of the match with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner. Although he came close to completing a hat-trick, his subsequent attempt narrowly missed the target.

Brentford had opportunities to get back into the game, with Neal Maupay hitting the crossbar and Yoane Wissa missing the rebound. Dean Henderson’s crucial late save ensured Palace held on to secure all three points in their final match of the year.
