Significant Update on Roy Hodgson’s Future at Crystal Palace Emerges

2 min read

Amidst Crystal Palace’s inconsistent season, the club has reached a decision regarding Roy Hodgson’s future, addressing the mounting pressure on the veteran manager.

Despite an initial lead against Liverpool at Selhurst Park resulting in a 2-1 defeat, Hodgson has faced criticism from the Crystal Palace fanbase. The team currently sits seven points clear of the relegation zone, but the expectations for the season have not been met, intensifying scrutiny on the 76-year-old manager.

Crystal Palace’s Decision

According to insights from transfer insider Dean Jones, as reported by GivemeSport, Hodgson will depart from the South London club at the season’s end, irrespective of the outcomes. Jones states, “Roy Hodgson doesn’t have a long-term future at Crystal Palace; he’s going to be gone at the end of the season, no matter what.”

The ownership’s preference is to avoid a mid-season managerial change. However, Jones suggests that a significant downturn in results might force such a move or the availability of a preferred manager like Steve Cooper could prompt a proactive decision.

Managerial Targets

With Steve Cooper’s tenure at Nottingham Forest seemingly concluding, Crystal Palace is likely to target the former Swansea City manager, presenting a prudent choice.

An alternative and potentially more thrilling appointment could be Kieran McKenna, the current manager of Ipswich Town, who has been performing exceptionally well. While former Manchester United assistant manager McKenna is considered a target, the risk involved is acknowledged.

Despite the allure of McKenna, the current favorite for the managerial position at Crystal Palace appears to be Steve Cooper, given his availability and track record.
